The world is a strange place if you think about it. We live on a planet within a galaxy, with even larger planets than ours, which is miniscule compared to the greater universe. Our biggest claim to fame is the landing on the moon and the latest mars landing, via the Curiosity. If you do not know, the Curiosity is a metric-tonne rover that was built specifically for the terrain of Mars to determine if there was ever life on the ‘Red Planet’.

However, back to the world, Here are the most amazing facts about the countries in the world:

Number One – France: If you were to tally everything, including overseas territories, then France holds the title of covering the most time zones. France covers twelve time zones, while the United States of America is the runner-up with eleven and Russia comes in third with nine time zones.

Number Two – The Maldives: The average height about sea leave is 1.8 metres and with the talks of global warming and rising sea levels, the Maldives has the greatest chance of being the first country completely covered in water.

Number Three – Nauru: The small island of Nauru holds the record for being the most overweight country in the world, with ninety-five percent of the population obese. The obesity rate is primarily attributed to the importing of western fast food that coincided with the increased standard of living in the twentieth century.

Number Four – Falkland Island: This island reportedly has three hundred and fifty sheep per person living on the island. With over half a million sheep on the island, it is not surprising that they primarily export wool.

Number Five – Canada: Canada has the most lakes in the world, in fact the country has over three million lakes that makes up nine percent of the country’s territory. In fact, Canada has around sixty-percent of the world’s lakes situated within their borders.

Number Six – Russia: Russia has the most tanks of any army in the world – twenty-one thousand. However, most of these tanks are out-dated and America (with sixteen thousand tanks) has a much more advanced tank inventory and a more dominant army.

Number Seven – Papua New Guinea: This country holds the title for the most languages currently spoken in the land. The country’s official language is English, but only two percent of the population speak it. Papua New Guinea speaks around eight hundred and twenty different languages which equates to twelve percent of the world’s languages.

In conclusion, these are seven interesting facts about seven countries around the world. Each country is different and for its own reason.
