Who Benefits From Obesity?

We hear a lot about obesity as a health epidemic. Kids are developing adult-onset diabetes and other ailments associated with much older people. The public health costs are mounting. It’s said that generations coming up may actually have shorter life spans than the ones before them. The increase in our obesity as a nation appears to be disastrous for everyone on just about every level. But is that really the case?

Obesity is costing us

A closer look reveals that yes, obesity is costing us a great deal of money. But not everyone is suffering in the same way. After all, if we’re paying more money as a result of obesity, we’re also paying money to someone. And contrary to what one might imagine, it’s not actually the processed or fast food industries raking in the bucks. As it turns out, obesity is very bad news for most of us but very lucrative for a few.
