Winter Wedding Themes

There is nothing more romantic than a cold winter night, cuddling up with the one you love – which is why we think winter weddings are so romantic. Incorporating the right elements into your special day can really create intimacy and feed into the magic of winter. Here are our four favorite winter wedding themes.

Winter Wonderland

Playing off the color of the season, you can create a wedding of white, silver and blue for a wonderful winter wonderland. The crisp, coolness of your wedding decor will make guests feel like they have slipped away into a magical land of love. Incorporate white Christmas lights and plenty of candles to feed into the roaring fire. Speaking of fires, if you can find a venue that has indoor fireplaces this will add wonders to the atmosphere. For centerpieces, you could incorporate a white holly or have a large bouquet of white roses packed in crushed ice, sitting atop of a mirror with plenty of votive candles to project light.

Keep your theme going with cool-weather comfort food. A winter salad, featuring dried cranberries, goat cheese and walnuts would be delightful. Perhaps a creamy bisque as an appetizer would please the appetites of your guests. Follow this with a festive carving station and creamy mashed potatoes and a side of green beans almandine.

Snowflakes

If you love the weather during the winter season, consider the uniqueness of snowflakes. This is another wonderful winter wedding theme that’s easy to come by during the season. Rather than having the traditional white wedding runner, look into a red or blue runner and line the sides with snowflakes. If you live in an area where snow is guaranteed on your wedding day, look for a venue that has large picture windows to create a beautiful backdrop. For your centerpieces, use a light sprinkle of fake snow with some glittery small snowflakes around the table with plenty of candles for intimate lighting. Even consider making each centerpiece complimentary of one another yet unique like snowflakes.

Look into finding a nice wrap that has snowflakes attached to incorporate the theme into your attire. You can also have your baker create an amazing wedding cake based upon the snowflake theme.

Ice

If you are a girly-girl and diamonds really are your best friend, tap into the glitz and glamour of an ice themed wedding. The ice of course would be diamonds, or look-alike, to create a blingy ice land for your wedding. Think bejeweled shoes, tiaras, centerpieces and a gorgeous cake covered in jewels. You can even incorporate the gorgeous sparklers in your bouquets and boutonnieres. Look into getting a twinkle-lighted backdrop for a portrait station and print pictures as keepsakes for your guests. You can even get an ice sculpture of the initial of your new last name.

Festive Holiday

If you are a traditional holiday girl and want to play off the holiday season – there are plenty of venues that will be decorated to the nines with Christmas and it can really help reduce your decorating budget. Include rich reds and greens for your accent colors, whether it be a shall, your shoes or your flowers. Red roses or even poinsettias can give you the richness you desire along with evergreen branches and pinecones can help you bring in the season. Not to mention these items are low cost with a big impact.

Consider serving a holiday ham with glazed cranberries with au gratin potatoes. You can even incorporate a specialty eggnog drink to round out the holiday theme.
